Stonybrook, New York

We camped at Stonybrook State Park this month with some friends. Other than setting up in the rain, the weather was beautiful all weekend, and our girls got some quality play time with four other friends.

There are three different hiking trails, the Gorge Trail follows alongside the creek there.
Matt was the first one in the water, since much of the trail can actually be walked THROUGH the creek.

It's beautiful for many reasons- waterfalls, shale rock (we found a fossil), stairs (lots of stairs) and bridges. Oh, and a few pools big enough to get very very wet.

Some of our fun friends.

Lucy concerned about getting her skirt wet.

Jillian in green, of course.

Marleah did lots of exploring with her dad- who coaxed her under this chilly ledge.

A rare photo of our entire family.

The only boy in our company was all about finding PETS for his buckets.
He found a salamander, and these creepy crawlies: a crayfish, a minnow,
and some icky bug thing we suspect may be the beginnings of a dragonfly.

Fast friends and camping buddies. Too cute!
I'm so glad that camping memories are so much sweeter with good friends.
Much thanks to the Balmers and the Gulicks!
See you at the next campsite!!
