Enduring

I haven't blogged in a while. Sometimes spring just takes over and the enthusiasm for the beauty of it all keeps you focused and busy. Actually, I love spring. It's the season that promises new beginnings, new colors, new fragrances, new possibilities.
And sometimes there are other factors in life, like an unopened letter just sitting there. Is it good news? Is it another bill? Is it an invitation to a grad party for the daughter of a faraway friend (sorry, Jewelene- I'd LOVE to come, but Vegas just isn't in the works right now). Or does the letter represent other realizations and decisions?
This is another James Christensen painting. He's a brilliant artist- my favorite because he's a master at invoking the gazer's imagination. What's her story? Why does she look so solemn? Why is she alone in this quiet place? Is that trepidation or intrigue she's feeling? Since it's sealed in red, is the letter from someone loved? From someone who loves her?
So, what are your thoughts? What should the girl do? What's in the letter?
How will this play out?
I'd love to know.

alone in nature is being in a busy but different crowd, its being in a crowd, and sometimes the crowd is one other person i feel most alone; the note in red accentuates the look and the need for enduring...to the end? not sure that is a possibility, although whenever the enduring stops it is by definition to its end isn't it?

I think that the women in the painting wants perfect happiness. She is reluctant to open the letter because of her fear of receiving a message she does not want to hear. Her wishes or her plans would be marred. Either that or the letter contains her STD or pregnancy results. ;)

My two cents are that the letter is from a young man who wants her hand in marriage and she knows he wants to marry her. But if she opens it she has to make a decision and she just isn't sure yet.

It is a lovely painting.

PS. but you wouldn't catch ME sitting out there on the damp ground with centipedes and poison ivy and SPIDERS! Blachhh. And maybe a renegade snake. She probably ran outside in her nightgown to open the letter and then chickened out. Her nightgown is going to get just filthy. Goodness.
