One sharp cookie!

A few days before Christmas, Lucy and I decided to make sugar cookies.

As I hunted through one cookbook and then another and another, into the kitchen walks Lucy.

This 5 yr old had gone to the computer,

got online,

somehow found allrecipes.com,

located a sugar cookie recipe,

and printed it out.

Why do I keep cookbooks again?

Happy Birthday, Lucy!!

Today's my baby girl's birthday.

Lucy is such a joy to our family, and she completes us!

I love to see how her mind works as she processes and interprets things around her.

She's a girl with her own flair- someone who (ahem) definitely knows what she likes

and what she doesn't like.

Lu, you challenge me as a mom- which is a good thing.

You wouldn't go to ANYONE but me from the time you were four months old until almost three years old. You would wear shorts and flip flops ALL YEAR LONG. You don't like chocolate (I'm hoping you grow out of that one). As a toddler, you wouldn't take anything other than milk. Now you're a water kid. Your sisters are your best friends.

I love to hear you sing (you do a great Lady Gaga),

watch you enjoy reading more and more,

and see you walk hand in hand with your sisters.

You have the world's tiniest mouth, but when you smile, it lights up a room.

I'm so blessed to have you in our family!!

More Summer Catch-Up

Lucy impatiently waited for her turn to get swim lessons.
She did well enough for us to strongly suspect that she's part fish.

She had a great time with her class, and showed no fear at all.

Glad the Y keeps the pool open year round- it's gonna get lots of use from our family!

Field Day Friends

Lucy stops to smile with two friends from Pre-K.

I think these two boys follow her to Pine Brook next year.
It will be nice for her to already have some friends in Kindergarten.

The end of Pre-K

Lucy stands with her classmates for their moving-up presentation.

Plenty of favorite songs and a book re-telling.

I'm so glad Lucy had such a wonderful experience in pre-K, and is so enthusiastic about heading to Kindergarten next September!

It is the end of an era for our family, and the beginning of a scholastic journey for Lucy!

I'd never heard this quote before Lucy's school had an ice cream social to display all the kids' artwork. What a great quote!! Figures that it was Pablo Picasso that said it.
